Closing 2016 with a win over the unknown, Eric Helm refused to shy away from a dangerous welcome to 2017 in mid-March, agreeing to meet Kody Vogels at NorCal Fight Series (NCFS), an all-amateur promotion overseen by C.A.M.O (California Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Organization), for their fifth feature: NCFS 5.
In Helm’s last outing at Cage Combat Fighting Championships: Contender Series, the developing prospect from MMAGOLD spoiled Jon Sellers’ introduction to the sport. Although Helm claimed the split-decision victory by remaining light on his feet and outpointing the newcomer, a ten-month layoff prevented him from pulling the trigger on the 155-pound prey in his crosshairs.
March 11th at the Metro City Soccer Complex in Rancho Cordova marks the next matchup for Helm. Competing in the featherweight division, the ten pounds absent from the scales in this contest will rest squarely on Helm’s shoulders when he engages with Team Alpha Male’s Vogels at NCFS 5. On paper, Vogels appears to pack dynamite in his hands—finishing his previous opponent at The Titans Cage 12 in fourteen seconds; however, Helm, with five times the experience and knockout power of his own, has trained to dodge any of Vogels’ detonations and deliver a barrage firepower.
Charging back into a caged proving ground with only several months separating his last spat of conflict, Helm’s confidence soars at an all-time high, and he’s prepared to add a fourth straight win to his record by pushing the pace and vanquishing of Vogels before all the visitors to NCFS 5.
