Do you want to see a warm, friendly disposition transform into a maniacal, cold stare at the sound of a bell?
Fight followers who flock to the Metro City Soccer Complex on March 11, 2017 will witness Austin Branum morph from a soothing soul, willing to share the shirt off his back, to a savage featherweight, only interested in peeling flesh from its bones, when he meets Martin Hermosillo in the fifth installment of NorCal Fight Series (NCFS), an all-amateur MMA promotion, more accurately recognized as: NCFS 5
On a recent episode of the MMAGOLD Podcast (link here), Travis Hyland, another competitor who hits like a gold brick and is housed in El Dorado Hills, recalled Branum’s MMA debut, detailing an impressive performance—until experience was his downfall:
“He [Branum] took the fight on two-days notice and just rolled the wrong way out of an armbar and got caught with it in the second [round]. Hyland continued to boast about Branum, “He was super-green going into that fight; he’d only been doing Jiu-Jitsu for like two or three months.”
After logging numerous rounds at Urban Sprawl Fitness in preparation of NCFS 5, Branum will brandish a snarl with a vice-grip lock on his mouthpiece while welcoming Hermosillo, a fresh face trying to find their foothold, to the hurt business.
Much like the Forty-Niners in the mid-1800s, people should follow the glow of the Metro City Soccer Complex in Rancho Cordova on March 11th when MMA’s next dazzling prospects, such as Branum, will be mined on NCFS’s canvas at NCFS 5. For tickets, contact Phil Flathers (link here).
